I just bought a OBDII/CAN scantool from ebay, it has a trapezoid connector.
My fathers 2000 model Grandeur XG300 (and my 2006 Kia too) has a rectangular connector. Can I buy an adapter, am I overlooking something simple here? I thought post 1996 vehicles are meant to be OBDII compliant.

The Grandeur has just been converted to run on LPG and now the engine light is on, was alright for a while, seems to loose power on petrol now. The LPG conversion place doesn't want to know about it, a very unfriendly sort. Could anyone please give me some advice? :liebe011:

Dbl check the connection. The ODB connection on the XG should be shaped like all the rest for the last 10 years.

can you post a link to the ebay auction to see what you bought?

OBD-II is the same everywhere. Can you show a pic of what you are trying to plug that tool into? (that's the right tool, btw)

Thanks for your replies. Eventually found both vehicles OBDII connectors. The rectangular connectors were dedicated Kia or Hyundai only and the OBDII reader I bought did the job. I'll post another thread because since my initial post my father's Grandeur has been back and forth from the LPG fitter and still runs like crap on petrol. The O2 error code keeps coming on....Cheers
