My 2003 tibby gt wont rev past 5000 rpms when in gear and the CEL came on this morning. but when in neutral car revs freely. the car also pulls normally to 5000 and the it feels like it's hitting the redline. any and all advice is appreciated.

Got it checked at autozone they said it was a speed sensor. it'll cost around 60 bucks for the part. anyone ever replaced the speed sensor before and have any advice.

They didn't give me the code. we just reset it, im going to fix it next week. i think what was happening is that it must have been a safety feature to not let the car rev past a certain point but that doen't seem to make sense with a speed sensor. after we reset it the car rev'd to redline. the car was normal when the CEL was on it just wouldn't rev past 5000, it pulled normally. dunno.

Yea it's caled limp mode
usualy the ECU gose in limp mode when a vital sensor has failed or when engine parameter are out of bound
next time you get a code read ask the code number it could be a code specific to Hyundai
