I was wondering if anyone knew how to take apart the middle console so I can clean out all the gunk and crumbs that have fallen into the emergency brake slot over the years. Am I insane?

Dear Bakes,

Just noticed that NO one had replied to you.

Go to hmaservice.com, and register.

Enter Service Information
Enter Sonata
Enter 2003
Enter your engine
Click Shop Tab
Enter Body (interior & exterior)
Enter Console
Enter Console
enter Removal

This will give you the shop manual instructions with pictures for removign the console.

without pictures, it states:

Pry the rear upper cover from the floor console with a flat-tip screwdriver.

Remove the front upper cover from the floor console after removing 2 screws.

Remove the floor console mounting screws(2EA) and bolts(2EA).

Remove the floor console assembly after removing 4 screws.

Installation is the reverse of removal.

Byron
