Jay,

I miss that feature also. I had it on my 03 Explorer Sport Trac that was replaced with my 07 Santa Fe.

But guess what?? My 07 Azera doesn't have it either. When I bought the Azera two months ago, I just took for granted that it was part of the package. Was I ever surprised when I looked for the delay control and couldn't find it.

I live in a very rural area and all the night lighting that I can get is very welcome. That's why I installed LED puddle lamps under both the Santa Fe and Azera.

They don't do much for exiting the vehicles like delayed headlights would do but they sure help when approaching the vehicles for entry.

Maybe someone will make an after market add-on for us.

phatboyc,

I installed five LEDs from the front of the front door to the rear of the rear door, on each side UNDER the BODY.

Since I have Chromed S.S. Nerf Bars, it really looks sharp when I turn them on. The LEDs reflect off the Chrome and not only light up the night all along both sides of the vehicle onto the ground, but reflect on the chrome bars, which can be seen from above.

I was going to install the LEDs in the mirrors but decided I wanted more light on the ground and less on the side of the vehicle.

I think some states don't allow underside lamps. Or maybe that's just the fluorescent kind? I'm not sure.

Perhaps it IS against the law to have the Neon tubes but I know of no laws against LEDs used for under vehicle puddle lights. Mine operate with the interior lights. When you unlock the vehicle, the lights go on. When you start the vehicle, they go off, just like the interior lights.

I have also done the same thing with my 07 Azera.

I also did the same thing with my 03 Explorer Sport Trac and 04 Cobra which have been sold. On these vehicles I used regular bulbs in sealed housings.

I decided to use LEDs this time because they draw considerably less amperage, will last more years than I will own the vehicles and take up very little space. They also look better.

I happen to be a "Mod" freek, but If I wasn't, it would tick me off that Hyundai offers no puddle lamps on any of their vehicles.

The LEDs that are offered in the mirrors of Hyundais are turn signals only.
