if your not braking much over this time i'd say the brake pads are probably rubbing on the discs, or something may be lodged in between, is it happening on both sides?

Dear c-man,

You have a common problems with Excels. You need to service your front brake calipers as your brake pistons are sticking. I suspect it is time to rebuild your front brake calipers. Fortunately, the rebuild kits are $7 per caliper at Autozone. You should verify if your inner diameter wear in the caliper cylinder is not worn past the limit. You can bring the caliper into Autozone and they can inspect it for you. If you are worn past the limit, you will have to buy remanufactured calipers.

go to hmaservice.com, and register.
Enter Service Information
Enter Excel
Enter 1994
Enter 1.5 liter
Click Shop Tab
Enter Brake System
Go to page 58-21 to start the inspection of your brake system.

If you have 1 ream of paper, I recommend printing the entire shop manual.

While you are checking out your calipers for sticking, you probably should check your master cylinder for leakage and your rotors for wear. Also recommend bleeding all the fluid from your brake lines because that black brake fluid should actually be clear as water.

Byron
