Have just noticed that a very thin film on the surface of the headlamps is peeling on my 2005 Terracan. At first I thought it was a sticky residue but on trying to clean it off it is apparent that the acrylic/polycarbonate lens has a coating presumably to protect the underlying surface. This has started to disintegrate leaving "bare" patches(like peeling suntan)y thin and hard to see. Anyone had a similar problem?

Everyone here will eventually have this problem. It is the protective layer and after it peels further the chipping and hazeing begins. Before it's to late get yourself a bottle of Meguires Plast x and use it on the lights when you detail the car. It will help preserve the coating for a longer period. If you find it peels further there are restoration kits for these type of headlights at Auto Zone that you can pick up for around $15. I have heard it works really well.
