Hi,

I'm looking for some advice as I'm a total newbie at buying cars.

I've got a deposit down on a 1.4 Hyundai Getz, it's only 8000 Australian Dollars (pretty cheap) and it's only one year old. The only thing I'm worried about is that it's done 114,000 kms (about 70,000 miles I think).

It's $2000 less than similar cars with less mileage.

It was previously used as a company car so I'm guessing that it was well maintained. The car looks perfect and brand new. I checked the oil and some other simple things and it all seems fine.

Would you touch a getz that had done so many kms in such a short amount of time, or do you think it would be OK?

Thanks!

:00000732: oliver!

Concur with alex. Driving 114 kms in 12-15 month time frame is just incredible. You can bet that this is a lot of highway miles, but still it is averaging 9500 kms per month!

Here in the U.S. we have the National Automobile Dealers Association Blue Book that is used for pricing. It even includes allowance for extra features and deductions for high mileage. You definitely have high mileage here. Make sure that the AUS 8,000 is the right price.

What is the right price you SHOULD pay for a 2006 Getz with normal mileage in Australia? What is the price for a normally driven Getz with that many miles ignoring the year? That should be something like a 2000 or 2001 Getz?
