ugh. apparently, this is a common problem. the cd player in my 2001 elantra gives me the infamous "er 6." it won't play ANY cds. burnt or not. & i haven't been able to find any help with this problem. i read somewhere to unplug the battery power? which was done, with no help. if anyone actually knows how to fix this, pleeeaaaasseee let me know!! i don't really WANT to put in a new stereo, but i need to know if this is my only option.

thanks!

I remember seeing something on hmaservice.com about this. If I recall correctly it was to do with the automatic security feature built in to the stereo. You might want to go and do a quick search on there. I think there is a simple dealer "code" or something that will unlock the steroe and make it usable again,
