Hello all,

We have a 01 XG 300 and I am wanting to do some tune up work on it. I was planning on doing spark plugs and a fuel filter.

Lets start with the plugs. Does the intake have to be removed and/or like some cars the engine rotated towards the front to have access to the rear plugs? Just doing a quick once over and I can hardly see the rear plugs.

And now the fuel filter. Does anyone know if the XG has a "kill" swith? My Tbird has a switch in the rear that during a crash that produces enough force will cause the fuel pump to be turned off. We can unplug this switch and then start the engine to help drain the fuel out of the lines. I have searched the underside and rear of the XG and only see one item that I think is the plug to the fuel pump. It is located at the rear of the tank, but after unplugging it, the car would still run for a good period of time and both sides of the filter still had pressure and fuel. I really don't like taking a gas bath.

there is no problem with changing the fuel filter on the xg, it is located under the car on the left hand side roughly by the middle of the left hand rear door, prepare for some minor fuel spill but you won't get much, as regards the plugs you will have to remove the air intake manifold then prepare for a bit of a stuggle-have fun

Make sure the engine and body is cold before unplugging the fuel line. Any heat will make the fuel spray out from pressure.

The plugs are easy, just remove the plastic cover. Good time for some simple green and a rinse! It's an alumimum head so standard hand thread new plugs to prevent cross threading.
