Hey everybody , i'm new here in this forum and i'm a new hyundai owner ..
i am planning on installing a subwoofer to my 05 Accent and was thinkin of the 12" Kenwood KFC 1202DVC .. or the JBL GTO 1202D .. both are dual voice coils and supposed to be 300 W rms .. the difference in the price is very big so i'm wondering if the sound quality is also so different ..
then i hav another problem which is the enclosure .. i don't know what's goin 2 be better , a sealed or a vented enclosure .. and what the right measurements shud b 4 da best quality ?
any advice would be helpful .. thanks alot

Dear sherif,

Can you listen to both systems in the store? If the price difference is very big, do you want to pay more for the JBL? Something missed by many audio buyers is they go for the big output and ignore the requency response, sensitivity and distortion. Also, if this is like this system:

http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-JBL-GTO1204D-12-DU...1QQcmdZViewItem

This has a very high peak output of 1300 Watts. This means you are less likely to blow out your speakers with a heavy bass rip.

The Kenwood costs less, but if you can't hear the difference in the store why would you pay for the more expensive speakers?

Byron

Actually , the kenwood is about 40 $ more expensive .. and unfortunatly , i can't hear the woofers in the store .. they both have the same frequency response .. 20 Hz - 400+ Hz .. and both hav a signal 2 noise ratio of 91 db .. so i can't tell any difference from the specs ..

Well you have done your research but without an actual listening session. Why pay for the Kenwood at $40 more?

Byron.

You're paying for the name. Kenwood has made quality subs for a lot of years now and can charge more if the buyers are willing to pay for it. Personally, as long as you have no intention of abusing the sub and pushing it to it's limits, i'd say go w/ the JBL.

That's what i'll probobly take , the JBL .. bt now i'm thinkin of an enclosure , it says it has to b 1.00 Cu Feet or 28 liters.. i want it 2 fit againt the back seat , either with the front (where the subwoofer is) or the back .. in case i decide 2 face the subwoofer againts the interior , or in the trunk .. So the front and the back hav to be sloping .. Can anyone please help me out figure what dimensions wud be best .. and if this shape is goin 2 affect the quality or not ?
thanks alot for your replys
