Occassionally, the Tucson is hard to start. Especially noticable after it has been driven - then parked for a period of about 2 hours. When we attempt to start it again, it cranks, it attempts to start but just does not. It takes several attempts, then if we let it sit for about 20-30 seconds and try again - it will fire right up.

Any thoughts?

Its a 2.7L V6 Gasoline - Automatic - and it has been alot more noticable since the summer has hit and we are running the A/C.

Thank you,

Did you Ever figure out the problem? I have had the EXACT same issues since around the same time. I finally took it to another mechanic because hyundai kept charging money for something they couldnt fix.

First off try changing the spark plugs as often this causes some of the problem and is not to expensive to do and will benefit anyway if this is not the problem. Then if you still have warranty get the dealer to checkout the TPS (Throttle position sensor) as this too can cause that type of symptom without showing up on the cars computer system.

Hope it helps

Two weeks ago I started having the exact same problem with my 2.7L V6. It turns out the FUEL PUMP was not holding pressure after the car had sat for a while. Have someone run a fuel pump pressure test to confirm. I just had the FUEL PUMP replaced (warranty) and now it fires up on the first try like it should. Hope this helps.
