Don't forget that the Azera is about to get trumped by the Genesis.  I guess we all might as well move to a third world country and take our cars with us.

Yes it is. I think they will stop making the Azera once they test the ground with the Genesis. Will be interesting to see how it is accepted. I don't think the Azera broke any records. We will soon see if people are willing to shell out $40,000 for a Hyundai. Can't be to poor to do that.

Loved the pics of the old car. It did have a really funny tachometer though. It went up to 12,000 RPM, but has TWO needles! Was one an adjustable REDLINE indicator???  Did you ever rev it past 12 O'Clock??????????????

ha ha yep the Pony had an engineering masterpiece for an engine, 12000 rpm redline with two needles to show the bottom end RPM's and the top end at the same time .. :whistling:

too bad Toyota stole this engine to put in their Formula 1 car otherwise Hyundai would still be using it ...

Oh course, I love my 2002 BMW M3. But she's not a daily driver - she's for the weekends and for the ladies haha.

My son has an "M Coupe", as he calls it. He rubs my nose in it all the time.

Before that, he had a Mercedes SLK. He rubbed my nose in that one too until the engine blew up just out of warranty. Oy, that had to hurt...

Well wait man. You're making 93G and you can't spring for the Electric Seat.  And you would love the V6, always up to speed!.

What can I say.....I'm CHEAP....when it comes to cars. Actually I just wanted to lease a Sonata and the 4cyl was all that Hyundai was offering for lease. I test drove it and found the 4cyl to fast enough for me.....was going 85 on the hwy seamlessly.....not to mention I have only a $135/mo lease payment.

Ok, I have a pretty solid career, and I probably earn a little more than the average Sonata owner. Last year I netted $112,326, and I bought myself a 2007 Sonata GLS last month. I can afford a decent mid-class Mercedes if I wanted to... but why? Ever take a good look at your Sonata? It's a sharp looking car, with alot of class to it. If you work a full time job, and you have a reliable set of wheels to get you there, then you are doing just fine, and screw anybody who says differently.

I'm making over $100k a year, why should society dictate the value of the car I'm driving? Screw that! I don't want a Mercedes, I want my Sonata, and it has just as much class as a Mercedes at a much better price.

And by the way, I'm a commercial/corporate pilot, and I'm always around egotistical millionaires, billionaires, powerful celebrities and snippy politicians, and on quite a few occasions over the last month I've heard... "nice car"! Yep, thank you Hyundai for designing a classy car at a nice price... -Brian

I will say this....when my lease is up I WILL be upgrading to either a leather sonata or a car with better/more comfortable seats. I love the way the Sonata drives but I'll probably get something more comfortable. Maybe a Sonata V6 w/leather..etc.

cars are disposible. Folks that dump money into cars have either too much money or no sense.

I make 92K a year, a mortgage and that's it. I have LOTS of nice stuff, I go on vacations, and eat out often.

I drive a 1995 Mustang, a 2001 XG and my daily commuter is a 2007 Kia RIO5.

It's not how much money you make, it's how much you KEEP.

i make more than the average college grad and i drive a hyundai not cause i cant afford a bigger car payment(my wifes car payment is 450 a month and i pay it no sweat.)
this car was the most value orientated that i could find for a daily driver i drive close to a hundred miles a day on average....not about being cheap just looking for an economical solution and it fit the bill.

as far as hyundai value inside and out....well the outside they have certainly stepped up there game but the inside visually is an ugrade but the over all quality of materials leaves alot to be desired.....

Apart from obviously working hard and smart, it's all about saving, and using your money the right way and on the right things. That way a poor guy can still afford a car he likes if he plans it right.

hehe I'm a number 6. 150K + but I own a 04 SantaFe and a 07 Accent SR. I love the fact that there are so few issues with these cars and the issues are small ones. Plus they built good, and parts are cheap compared to other auto makers.

I remember when I bought my first Hyundai (Elantra Wagon - traded-in last year for Pontiac Vibe 2007) for $10K in 1999 many of my colleagues looked to this with strange impression on faces which I detected as "look what a junk he bought!". But I proved them wrong. I bought 2001 Sonata GLS V6 also. Now nobody of surrounding folks thinks that it was a junk but how smart the guy was. In 1999 in my neighborhood only I had a Hyundai car, now I can see them in many driveways around.

With time Hyundai will become a "big player" like Honda, Toyota, Volkswagen, Nissan (Datsun), etc... The product quality is there now.

The only problem I see with Hyundai is it's dealerships. They are most often in poor areas of town, in old run down buildings and their salespeople are the WORST in the business. I had one ask me why did I want a car like the Accent when there were "better" cars. Not exactly a selling statement!!

It's all in what you like though. I could have purchased many other cars, but I like the Accent SE, neat packaging, neat car, neat style, just really liked it so that sold me.

If you are confident with yourself, you will not care what others think.

Ray
