I purchased my Entourage in April or May of 2006. Started experiencing squeeks in the rear...maybe hatch...in December (10,000 miles) of that same year. I have since visited my dealer 4 times to correct. The problem still exists and I am scheduled to speak with the GM and SM this coming Saturday, June( 16,000 miles). Up to this point, I have been quite pleasant, but that is about to change. The problem goes away for a few days or weeks, but returns...especially during times of higher moisture...rain etc.

Anyone else having or had this problem? Any known solutions??

I am a fan of Hyundai products...8th Hyundai car in last 10 years.

Dear Lin,

Sorry to hear of your squeaking problem in the rear. Solving a squeak can be mind-numbing. Your problem could be just one bolt that is loose by less than one full turn. I did check the Tech Service Bulletins to see if their is a systemic reported problem with squeaks in the rear, but found none.

Will the dealer fix this as a warranty item? If no, the repair is tedious but not mechanically difficult. You will need a non-hardening rubbery compound for the bolts like Permatex RTV Silicone Sealant. See
http://www.permatex.com/products/automotiv...ive_Sealant.htm

First, narrow your search. Have someone sit in the back while you drive around to identify that the squeak is coming from the left side, right side, or tailgate.

Check your tailgate striker alignment. Each striker can be adjusted left and right. Inspect your tailgate as it closes to see that it grips tightly and is not the cause of your squeak.

Still squeaking? You will have to remove the inner panel from the tail gate. Remove all the bolts one at a time inside the the internal cavity of the tail gate. Place a small blob of Permatex on the shaft near the head of each bolt, re-install and tighten all the bolts back down. The Permatex creates a rubber cushion layer around the bolt and the item the bolt is securing.

They finally fixed my squeaks!

I am from Montreal, Canada and i also have been to the dealer 4 times for this issue. They finaly fixed the issue last week. They ended up removeing the entire back end of the VAN and they added some insulation. PROBLEM SOLVED!!!

Have your dealer contact mine and they might be able to give them more details. I am the 9th Entourage that my dealer has been able to fix using this method.

Bought the 2007 Entourage about a month ago used. On the way home today I sat in the back while my wife drove and it definetly sounds like a squeak from the tailgate but cannot seem to find it....might be behind the plastic panel.

Is this a warranty covered item?

My 2007 Entourage SQUEAKS all the time. Our local dealer, Todd Archer, has been unable to fix it in 7 or 8 tries. They say it is fixed but it starts squeaking on the way home. It has gotten to the point that I refuse to drive or ride in it.

All calls to the dealer to speak to management have gone unanswered.

I will be looking into the Nebraska Lemon Law for help with this one.

I found that our squeak was on the side pannels in the back along with the door. The dealer would fix one and then the next one came up. Although the dealer started fixing the squeak at 10,000 miles, Hyundai USA now says that the "adjustment warranty" was over at 12,000 miles and that it will no longer be worked on for squeaks. Since they didn't fix the problem at all, Hyundai should continue to work on the problem until it is completly fixed.

I have a $30+ van that would drive anyone in it crazy on a trip with its squeak.

I may have to try and dump it and buy a dodge or something else.

It is a great van except for that but customer service sucks.

It appears that my squeak has been fixed. We took the van out again last night and drove it down our country roads and didn't have one squeak.

I had issues with the dealer and Hyundai with Hyundai saying that it was built with in spec's and the dealer's representatives telling me they hear the squeak and then telling Hyunday they didn't hear anything and finally Hyundai read my blog entries and had the dealer attempt a "good will jester" and attempt a repair.

Todd Archer Hyundai in Bellevue NE fixed it by removing the pannels, using the "squeak repair kit" glueing the plastic connectors in place which had been ratteling round putting foam from the kit under the pannels and also putting some type of foam under the pannel and over the HVAC duct which was also rubbing.

Since the repair, the air noise and road noise in the back has been greatly reduced also.

Maybe now we can take our vacation without the stress of riding in the van.
