Hey all, we're gathering interest in a possible group buy on some www.hyundai-forums.com decals ! Would you be interested in one, or possibly a few ?

The size would be 1.5" x 18", which is a perfect size for your side windows or back glass. The preliminary coloring of the letters is white and the font is Arial.

Shipping will be FREE, but of course the decal won't be. :) Pricing will be determined depending on the amount of interest and will be posted up once that's figured out.

Have a look at the sample below. Note: the gray background is just there so you can see the letters - there will be no background color, just the letters.

As long as theyre a reasonable price, I would grab a couple.

I mention this because another forum I belong to saw fit to charge $14/each for their stickers.

IMO, for a $2 piece of vinyl, thats pretty unrealistic.
Are these stickers simply a way of showing solidarity, or will they be used as a fund raiser for the forum?

The only reason I see for this decal (which I would only put in my back window), is PUBLICITY for this board.

As a graphic designer I would have no problem creating the artwork (pro-bono, of course) and save it in the right format (printers like to get text as "EPS-Vector Base" file)...

But there is a ned to first check and learn the issue, like what color (though if one color, white seems to be the best for a window decal) and what's the best FONT to be used (efficiency in a given size, but also READABILITY)...

I'd be interested but not at your size. I made my own using my computer and printer on window tint in about 1"x6" which is adequate for inside the window.

To answer a few questions ...

@ mahout - it has to be this size due to the number of letters and for readability. If the letters are too small or cramped together you'd have to walk right up to it to read it. These decals will have the adhesive on the back, meant to stick on the outside of your window. Not many people would be willing to stick a decal on their $200 tint from the inside. :)

@ hugamuto - it should look almost identical to the picture posted. Simple and very readable.

@ joekewl - as of now they are just going to be white. A neutral, bright color that will look good on most colored cars. Multiple color offerings will definitely make the price go up.

@ dogstar - This isn't for a fund raiser, just a way to let folks know where to go if they have problems, questions, comments, etc., about their Hyundai. Nothing more, nothing less. Pricing isn't set yet but I can say they definitely won't be anywhere close to $14 !

@ mama - the design and everything else is already set for the most part. There will be no background, letters only in Arial - pretty much just as the image is above.

Stay tuned for pricing !

I wouldn't stick anything OUTSIDE. It won't last too long.

Why not use the same material colleges are using, a very thin clear plastic that can be applied to BOTH the inside or outside of the window?

As far as design, I like that theyre simple.

Possibly an underline or something, but that just adds complexity.

Putting them outside, they should stick fine for a few years.
Assuming good 3M vinyl is used, and they are applied properly to clean windows, they should start fading right around the same time they will start peeling.

I got this for my Sunday car - 1955 Roller - for AUD5.50 delivered - about USD 4.75
Yet to test it in cold weather - so it could be paper on adhesive.
It's a bumper sticker, clearly different to inside window stickers that can bear (kangaroo) the weather

I agree. I've had Many letter-only decals in the past and they do fine on the outside, as long as a good vinyl/adhesive is used like dogstar said. We also chose Arial for the font since it's easy to read and it's sans serif so there are no pointy parts on the letters to catch on rags or towels when washing or drying your car.

How many of us proudly put a American Flag Decal that lost all the Stars & Stripes after about a Year. The decal stays stuck for the life of the Car. :w00t:

Heck in Florida you are required to get new License Plates every 5 Years because even they fade.

Maybe the license plate frame border would be a better idea. Then you could place it front or back with your plate with just a few screws. Much more durable and you could change up colors and add graffics . Get sick of it...two screws and its gone.
That's the way I would go over the sticker. They are plastic so they can't cost much more.

For those wondering, this is what one of the decals will look like on a vehicle. Of course without the Mustang and a different website address but you get the idea. White letters and no background. They are die-cut.
