I have my accent 8 years now and in that time it has been fantastic never broken down and i have had very few problems, I am still running on the factory exhaust and rear brakes, and other than servicing its never been touched under the bonnet (hood) However it is time to change cars and so how do the 1g and 2g accents compare? are the second generation accents as good, not as good or better what do you think?

i think the 1st gens seem more reliable, albeit a lil more ruffer round the edges...
only big repair weve done is a new clutch.
were at 200 000 and still on factory exhaust, front struts...
i just replaced the rear ones, one axel, rear brakes - (first time).
never have had anyproblems with sensors, knock on wood.

My accent is 10 years old now an 103k km. My mechanic told me that the 1st gens after 95k - 120k km the engine starts burning oil and has to be repaired. Is it true? Yours at 200k km, burns oils ?

thks.

my accent has never in its life used any oil.
they only time i had to top the oil up was when i had to stretch the oil change a further 3000 kms.
recentely i was seeing a tiny puff of blue when i would start the car.turnes our my valve covers seeping a tiny bit of oil onto spark plug, thus the lil bit of oil going into the cylinder and its burned of quick when i start.
so, im going to order a new valve cover seal. =-)
i am not easy on my car when i pass i can be in 3rd up to 130kmh,140/150 in 4th to pass big transports.

holy.... on 3rd gear and seein 130km/h??? on 60km/h i would be on my 5th for sure !!!!
anyways, here in Malta, most of the 1st gs are converted to toyota diesel engines. Here we have small distances and the 1st gs seem to be one of the most fuel drinkers/wasters.

u agree ?

not really out accent gets 750+ kms on a tank on highway, 550-600 in small town driivng.
i stick at 100 kmh on highway.
in the winter we get about 400 in town, due to extreme cold and warming of engine before you go out.
