Hi All,

I've a problem with the intermittent wiper settings on my Terracan.

Symptoms are:

When using the shorter interval intermittent settings the wipers either won't operate on the intermittent mode at all, and simply run on the regular slow setting instead, or they run intermittently (as designed) interspersed with several regular sweeps in between.

It also appears that most of the time the two slowest (longest delay) settings still work (can't remember if they also have periods of regular sweeps between these delayed wipes).

The wiper blades also tend to (sometimes) park themeselves after each sweep just above the regular parking spot (bottom of the screen) during intermittent operation.

I think that when the shorter delay settings are not working that the long delay settings (which still work) operate more frequently than when the wipers are operating normally?

Do any gurus out there have an idea which component is the prime suspect?

Thanks

Doug

Hi Doug for what its worth my wipers will only work on the three slowest intermitent settings if I go to any of the short settings they work on standard slow all the time I thought this was just how they were, ref the wiper parking problem its usually the motor/gearbox that causes this as it spins past a park signal post on one of the gears and simply does not stop quick enough

hope it helps

Hammy

Hi Hammy,

Thanks very much for your comments.

That means that my only problem now is intermittent remote access!

Cheers

Doug

Read my topic on total electrical failure, one of the symptoms was the wiper blades not running in intermittent mode.

Hi,
we don't have the Terracan here in North America, but the sympthoms discribed, point to the same wiper system we have here on the Sonata.
When you set the intermittent wiper to the shortest pause, then the wiper will go to continuis wipe operation, when the car reaches 40kmph (25mph) or faster.
