1997 Sonata Gas Smell, Sometimes, Could it be the fuel pump?

Newbie Group: Members Posts: 2 Joined: 28-December 04 Member No.: 3,472 Status: Location: kentucky Drives: Hyundai Sonata	My 97 Sonata just had 57500 miles on it and have had regular checkups, oil changes, etc.. But several times I have noticed the smell of gas in the car. It has started "burping" sometime when it is idleing. Does anybody have a clue as to what may be wrong? Please give me some ideas. Thanks,

Other times it seems like it is not gettin enough gas.

My 1997 Sonata yhad that problem. Also surged in 3rd gear when under light load on the gas pedal. I changed the spark plugs and HT leads to no avail. Cleaned the nozzles and the problem was gone!
