:) Hi,

Perhaps the first thing to do is a service.

Replace the plugs, leads, fluids and filters.

Check the brake pads and linings and brake fluid also and replace if necessary(brake fluid does go off). You wanna stop if you're gonna go faster!

Make sure your suspension is up to scratch. Get Pedders to check it. The Granville store did an excellent job on my Lantra.

Use 98RON fuel like BP Ultimate or Vortex 98. Do this AFTER you have replaced your HT leads or the increased voltage from the computer may just fry them if you have been running on standard unleaded.

Ensure all your belts including the timing belt have been checked and replaced where and when necessary.

You'll be surprised at how much difference doing these things will make to the vehicles performance.

Apart from that, do your intake first(with cold air feed), then your exhaust or maybe consider a performance chip like a Powerchip or Unichip. Allow yourself around $700-$1000 for these basic mods.

Hope this helps,

Andrew. B)

If you are talking a cheap modification how about throwing your air box and filter away and put a pod filter on. The pod will only cost you $30AU, however it does suck warm air in and is not as good as a CAI with a K&N Filter (costs around $300AU). You will notice a difference and have some fun with it at a relatively cheap cost..

Just a starting point
Andrew

Cold Air Intake is a must. Cheap too if you know where to look. You'll feel the difference when the light turns green! Next you might consider a cat-back exhaust system. A bit more coslty than the intake but well worth it if you ask me. A combination of both is really recommended if you want a little more power, it makes you sound really nice too. The tip on small stuff like plugs and just general servicing goes un-noticed a lot, but goes a long way and well is a also a fool proof "keep me running smooth" must. Good luck.

Hi Deo here. I replaced my normal airfilter with a flat simota. Ihave also remove all air intake pipes from the front to the air box as this is very restrictive and instead runs a rubber pipe from the airbox to the front just between the radiator and the body. There was a great improvement in performance.
