On the back doors of my 05 Santa Fe there is a black bar the seperates the main window from the smaller window. I noticed last night that the paint is peeling off this, more so on the drivers side. Paint appears to be rubber based, and there is no indication that it was hit or scratched. The base metal appears to be anodized for corrosion. It is under warrenty for 3 years for the paint but I would like to hear from anybody that has this problem also.

It went in today but from the indication I got was that they were taking the doors apart and sending the bar out to get repainted. I hope not as one side was starting to rust. Will post again when I get it back. In the time that I posted this message I have seen in parking lots a fair number of Santa Fe's that have this problem but the owners appear to not take notice. My warrenty states 3 years on the paint so I suspect that the others have the same.

Thanks, I will go check my 2004 Santa Fe tonight for peeling paint on those door pieces.

Well got the Santa Fe back and as I suspected they just sent the parts out to a body shop and painted them. They also damaged the rubber molding on the drivers side, appears the mechanic used pliers to pull the rubber out of its grove and mangeled it, then scratched the paint above it. Going to take it back today but I expect they won't do anything as they have damaged my rims in the past and only put touch up paint on them, makes me mad as this is the only dealership within 200 klm.

They are going to replace the rubber and try to buff out the scratch but that is not the point. I spoke with a Kia dealership in town and they indicate that since they were basically Hyundia anyway that they would service the truck but could not do the warranty work on it. Hyundai customer service indicated that it was between me and the local dealership not them and if it broke down they have to tow it to the nearest dealer for work. I think that Hyundai should take note of these dealerships as they are displaying the company name and it reflects on the company. Hopefully they won't damage it this time.
