I have an Australian 1996 Excel . I can't work out what the two rocker buttons - green and red - are for. We are right hand drive and the buttons reside to the right of my steering wheel.

They don't appear to be aftermarket add - ons.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

My apologies for being late with a picture. We're a bit slow in Australia - my sons even more so because they're the ones with digital cameras.

While I haven't got a picture of mine, I found one on EBay. The large green and red rocker switches are on the blank on the right side of the dimmer. The picture shows that the rear of the panel is ready for something.

No signs of previous lights. The way these switches are fitted, looks to me they are factory fitted. I've finally got a son to do me a photo. Here it is. Spot the red and green rocker switches.

I'll let them sit there now. When I get off my arse, I'll see if there is a wiring trail.

Thanks for the advice everyone.

Very interesting! When you find out, please let us know! I've absolutely no idea what they could be for. Thanks for the pic.

To close this thread I've solved the mystery. I pulled the rocker switches out and found speaker cables - which are no longer used.

Sorry to everyone, the switches & panel just looked natural for a car maker to insert.
