Recently bought a 2001 XG300L with about 47K miles. While it was running well I just loved the car and then it shifted into "Check Engine" light mode. So far they have replaced 2 coils and plugs, accelerator position sensor and a brake switch. First time I heard of a brake switch causing the engine light to go on. Other problem is the radio. This car had the worst reception known to man and then it got worse. It would turn on when it was off, the audio would go away for 1 or 2 seconds or it would switch between CD1 and radio even though there was no CD in the player. Complained about the radio but I was told Hyundai only guarantees the radio/cd for 3 yrs/36,000 miles. It turns out that this car was a Hyundai buyback because of the constant engine light problem. My Hyundai dealer sold me the car without telling me this and I didn't find out till I received my registration card and the car is branded for life. When I went ballistic on them for this they gave me a 10 year/100,000 mile warranty with no deductible which covers everything. First thing I had fixed was the radio. They replaced it and it works like a champ. in both AM and FM. Before AM reception was nonexistent. I also got a letter stating they would give me full value for the car in trade for 5 years. Well that's about it. With everything fixed now the car is doing just fine.
