New to this site.
My '04 XG350 has had never ending brake problems with pads and rotors replaced by Hyundai all too many time within the first 30K miles.
I've given up on Hyundai OEM parts and want to replace my own front rotors and pads. Question is whether or not replacement is rather "vanilla" with this car: I've done many brake jobs, but typically domestics, and I'd appreciate any insights you may have before I get down and dirty.
Many thanks.

welcome to the forums :00000732:

l can't think why you have had so much trouble, my car has done double the miles yours has with no problems. however changing the front discs/rotors and pads is quite straight forward as long as you know what your doing

thanks.
These brakes are very frustrating.
Rotors (front) replaced at 10k w/ new pads.
Rotors (front) cut at 25K w/ new pads
Rear rotors just replaced with new pads, and now the fronts are shaking like there's no tomorrow.
With all the cars I've had over the years, never had to replace rotors before at least 100k.
Dealer says it's my driving...??? 35 years and this is a first.
go figure.

I know it's 9 months old, but my 2001 XG 300 has 86,000 miles on the original pads. We don't downshift, but coast to the light or use slight engine braking when necessary.

So I can't say it's the driver, but all my cars have brakes that last a long time.

I bought the ceramic pads from napa and their bendix rotors.

I bought my 2004 xg350 new but it had sat on the dealers lot for many months. I immediately had brake problems. Slipping and plenty of shaking before stopping. Dealer said the brakes may have warped over the months they sat. They shaved down the rotors. Since then I've had the rotors shaved twice and now its starting again. This is the ONLY problem I've ever had with my xg350 (knock on wood!). I suppose I'll need all new rotors now.

shaving or 'skimming' the rotors is never as good as fitting new ones. go for the new rotors with new pads and that should be the end of your problems
