Hi guys .. i have coupe 2001 .. and when i start the car the light of " Check Engine" does not light ... is this normal or i have to check the electric of the car ??? please advice

Is the "CEL" (Check Engine light) on when you switch the ignition on, and don't start ???

hi Duke ..

the "CEL" (Check Engine light) is not ON when i switch the ignition on, and without start the engine ....

coz i knewly bought this car and i dont know about the sequence of events ..

In many areas outside North America (including the U.K.) the CEL/MIL system is deliberately disabled by removing the bulb & taping-up it`s holder.
Apparently this is because some of the strict emission controls required for the U.S.A. are not present.....& a CEL would otherwise be triggered on starting!.

Our cars just show the oil & generator lamps + a.b.s.-check (if fitted) at switch-on.

I guess that`s what is happening in Nightwolf`s area!.

thanks VALKYRIE YB70 for your reply and KSA stands for Kingdom of Saudi Arabia which is in Middle Eeast .... :)

another issue ... how do i know the capacity of the engine in CC ??? as its showin on the engine of my car only 16V ... is there any way to know the exact capacity of the engine of 2001 coupe FX .. ???

Hi again Nightwolf.......I must admit KSA had me baffled too!.

I think you have the 2-litre FX Coupe, which has an exact capacity of 1975 c.c..
......I`m fairly sure Saudi Arabia did not get the 1.6 model.
