We recently had our stereo replaced in the 2004 Elantra. (it wasn't getting FM stations anymore)

Anyway, the relacement was a different model than the first (and I don't have the model # here right now)

Problem with this one is: when we start the car, the volume on the stereo is always defaulted to 16... which is quite loud and distracting. As this is a different stereo than original, the owner's manual isn't applicable and I have no way of finding how to change the default. I have been turning the volume down after starting, but it is a pain to do every time the power is turned back on.

I contacted the Dealer and he said that I would have to bring the car back in because it is a problem... I think it should just be a simple programming issue but I can't find an answer... thought I would check with the specialists out here.

Anyone know how I can change this?

Thanks

Jack

Initial Volume Setting is programmable. You need access to the manual that comes with the radio. The various models have different procedures and only the manual or someone familiar with the particulat model can help you.

I have the same problem - radio is an H425 but cannot find a manual .
