I want to put a turbo in my 97 Excel.
What do people recommend?
Can i put any t15, t25 or t28?
And what else will i need to do it right?
should i put in a sports air filter too, or do i need an intercooler?
what, if any BOV should i buy?
can i use extractors and a turbo at the same time?
Will i need to have the car tuned or can i do all the mods my self?
I read some where that a better catalytic converter is a good idea.

Hi spazmor,

Prior to turboing your car, you should check to ascertain as to whether the engine will stand the stress of adding a turbo. Is the bottom end great? Is the top end near perfect? Has the maintenance been up to scratch? If you've got 100+k's on the engine, it may turn out more expensive than you are planning. You'll need a new/upgraded clutch assembly. Your brakes will probably need attention as well. How's the suspension?

Speak with Silverwater Automotive Services regarding your turbo setup. They, by reports, seem to have a fairly good idea of what to do.

The process involves new intake, exhaust manifold, cat converter and exhaust system.

It will more than likely involve an intercooler (not too large). Any BOV should be plumbed back into the system to satisfy compliance.

The mods will also include a new piggyback module for your ecu or a new purpose made ecu.

As you are a newbie, I cannot commend the setting up and ongoing tuning as a job to be done by yourself.

Let someone who does it everyday do it for you.

Depending on engine condition, allow yourself from $6,000 up for a decent job.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Andrew

Somehow, I can imagine that this car has been chromed out beyond all reason. Just a hunch. Hilarious question though.
