I've just got a 1997 Lantra and the fan heater does not blow. Does anyone have or know where I can get a wiring diagram. I know the heater itself is working just the fan does not blow. Any suggestions would be welcome.

hi i have this problem with a different type of car. my heater work but the a/c wasn't working. so my brother in law and his friend help fix my fan problem. i couldn't recall what they did. i forgot. it was about 1 year ago.

anyway they check some fuse and check the wire that was connected to the fan.
1. make sure your wire is connected to the fan. make sure all the fuse is good. the fan wire on your car might be different and might have two fan.
2. they had to knock on the fan blades or the center of the fan blade to have it spin and working. i got lucky there.

sometime the fan or ac fan can get stuck from build up or just from not using it in a long time like in winter season you wouldn't really use the fan that much. so, its good to use your heater and ac once awhile.

hope my lesson gave you some ideas. sorry if it didn't answer your question. good luck.

first of all check the fuse, if it's o/k pull the wiring connector off the heater blower and with a test light check if there is power going to it, if there is then the motor has burnt out, if not then it's likely to be the fan switch or the fan speed resistor faulty

I too have a similar problem with a 1999 Elantra. The fan works inconsistently. Now it seems to be working less frequently than before. Sometimes it will work if I start the engine with the switch set to high. Any ideas/suggestions?

hey Jim, I had the same problem with my 2000 elantra, I pulled the switch out and dissassembled it to see what was going on. It appears that the contacts were dirty, possibly from the manufacturer. This caused the spring loaded contacts to arc, and heat up, which weakened the springs and eventually melted the case. the switch was unrepairable, I had to replace it.

2ManyHobbies,
you stated: "I pulled the switch out". How did you do that? Did you have to remove the plastic wood grain paneling? How did you go about that? Does it unsnap out? O My dealer want $185 to replace the switch but I would think its something I can do myself. Yoors (anyones) feed back on getting to the switch would be helpful
Regards,
Carl

2ManyHobbies,
You stated: "I pulled the switch out" . How did you get to the switch? Did you just remove (unsnap) the plastic wood grain paneling to get to It. My dealer wants $185 (parts & Labor) to replace the fan switch.. Any feedback on how to access the switch is appreciated..
Regards,
Carl
