don't know if anyone will be able to suggest anything with such little info, but:

i recently bought this car, and it's in pretty good condition - except for the reverse lights not working, and the electric windows being a bit "uneven", i was really impressed with its condition.

i've had it a month or so now, and twice now, when having got in the car, and turned the key in the ignition, nothing happens. the radio and lights work fine, but the starter motor doesn't even try to turn. the first time it happened was to my girlfriend, when i wasn't there, and she said it just eventually worked. it happened to me this morning, and i tried for about 15 minutes before i got it started. after trying a few times unsuccessfully, i'd popped the bonnet to see if i could spot anything obvious, but couldn't, so tried starting the engine again, and the starter turned a little. i tried again, and it turned more, and just got the engine running. could it be that opening the bonnet helped somehow?

any advice or suggestions whatsoever would be great.

this is actualy the wrong forum sub-catogory :P
Well anyhoo, when i first got my 97 lantra lsi i had problems with starting it. I eventualy found out that the battery terminal clamps are very very thin and brittle and wernt making much contact with the battery.
Check them out, sand them down if they are corroded and whatnot.
I eventualy just bought 2 new heavy duty clamps from motorworld to replace them.
never had a problem since.

as for the windows, there is a (im told) an adjusting bolt on the window (under the pannel) that you can use to adjust the window tilt. (i still need to adjust mine a little)

hi angelus, thanks for the reply. didn't realise anyone had replied, cos i never got a notification email.

so should i have posted in the "2g" forum? or am i on the wrong track altogether?

anyway, thanks for the tip about the battery terminals - i'll check that out tonight. and if i'm feeling brave one day, i might try getting to the adjusting bolt for the windows...

cheers :)
