Aura = opel vectra iirc.
Nice cars, but typically, GM has mucked it up.
Lets hope the pontiac G8 lives up to its promise.
That the Aura is essentially an Opel Vectra is a falsehood that's been encouraged by GM's PR people. In reality, the two cars share little other than the basic platform and similar front end styling. The Aura has a half-foot longer wheelbase, for one thing. Mechanically, the Aura is much more closely related to the Pontiac G6 than to the Vectra.
On the Camry, I noticed the poor interior materials and fits when I first drove one a year ago. This isn't going to vary by assembly location, this sort of problem is designed into the car.
Reliability is a different issue. Toyota is replacing quite a few six-speed automatics with an updated design. This hasn't shown up in my site's reliability data yet, though. Maybe next time I update results, in May. With the latest results, both the Camry and the Sonata have low repair rates:
TrueDelta Vehicle Reliability Survey resultsYou cannot judge repair rates based on what you read online and in the press. Toyota sells so many Camrys that if even one percent have serious problems that's a lot of people.
