Hey guys *hangs head in shame* I'm a noob.
I own two intrepids, and have owned several other cars, and to bypass the top speed limit (my treps stang and blazer hit it before the quarter was up) i would unplug the output speed sensor.
can i do this with my tib? it's an 06 4CYL.
what problems arise from a tib haging a bad or unplugged speed sensor? i dont want to damage anything so im asking before i do it. so fat it hasnt damaged any car ive owned. but you never know when you mess with a diff car.
thank you guys for any input.

Short of custom PCM reprogramming there is no way I know of to remove the limiter, unplugging the speed sensor will cause problems. What is the limiter on a Tib anyhow? I don't remember anyone ever hitting it. I would also say you probably shouldn't be going that fast anyhow...

speed limiter on the tib is redline. I higly doubt you will ever see it in 5th gear... maybe if you slap a turbo with 20psi of boost, but still it's something like 150mph

On my 04 V6 GT 6-speed manual, it seems to me that ~140mph is the max. but again, I dont think it has anything to do with the speed limiter. Just ran out of horses.

Top speed on the '06 is 142 mph. To reinerate what has already been said, 'why should anyone need to drive that fast!' Now, I like speeding and cruising in and out of traffic as much as the next guy (or gal), but there are limits on insanity, besides, I personally bought my Tib for the sheer fact that it comes with that kewl 10 year/100,000 mile warranty and I can't see any reason to forfeit such a great thing. But that is just my opinion.

There is a reson you need to go that fast. The new Hemi police criusers do 150 Mph. If you have a open bottle in your car or 5 point on your licence youll need your car to make at least 151MPh.

Where is the governor, i need it gone, and i need a Beta 2 to swap in my 1stgen accent. then i nedd to chuck the spare tire and put the battery in back and remove the back saet....basically slim down. Maybe ill get 150MPh, you think. Also i will need a Preist and Lawyer on retainer.

I just found a way i think. 1st Generation accents speed is monitored by the ecm, but the ecm gets its info from the speedometer in the dash board. According to the chiltons mintenance manual there are 4 quadrants to the speedometer. So if you connect a meter to the speedometer it should swicth on/off 4 times moving the needle from one side to the other.
I havent tried but suspect if these switches can be space out further the ecm will think your going slower than you are.
