The Getz is a far more modern design & is available with smaller engines if economy is an issue.
Why not test drive the Accent AND the Getz?.
Nick.

Which car you go for depends on what kind of driving you mainly do in it.

The Getz is a mordern small car which is ideal for driving around towns and cities, and can even handle long journeys quite easily - although the comfort level on a long drive may not be as good as the Accent. The Getz will be more fuel economical and will cost less on insurance (cheaper to run). One problem you may encounter is the fact that it has a small boot - but for a small hatch-back, it's not too bad.

The Accent however is more comfortable to drive on longer journeys and more powerful than the Getz (although it does depend on what engine size you go for). The Accent has a fair size boot for a medium sized hatchback and even though I have the old style MVI (top of the range performance model - 1.5 litre, injected, 16 valve), I still get a reasonable fuel economy out of it and the insurance is still reasonably low.

So to summarise, you need to look at:
- What sort of driving you do (towns, cities, long distance, etc.)
- What sort of performance you require.
- Who do you normally carry in the car (the Getz may be a bit cramped in the back for adults - but try sitting in the back of both with an adult in-front).
- What do you normally carry in the car (Shopping / spare tools / kids seats / etc.)

As VALKYRIE said - test drive both of them (for about an hour if you can) covering town / city driving with motorway / fast road driving to get a feel for each car.

Let us know how it goes :D

Hello Carot,

I am also new here and I purchased an Accent ne month ago.
I agree to Soullink, and would add some thougths.

Me and my family even did not consider Getz, as it would have been a small one for us (2 childreen). Getz is rather a 'Women's car or famillies second car, while Accent is considered a family car (no joke) in our environment (Central Europe).
Beside of that the price was more or less the same. We also considered the Elantra, but that one looked too big for us :D

So far we are very happy with the Accent, especially the childreen likes the lovely smile looking front end. We selected the 1341 ccm MPI 12V SOHC engine, which is available in Europe and the average fuel consumption so far is 6.8l/100km (quite low, do not ask me to translate this to US standards :D).

Kind wishes, Attila
