Here's my install on my 2007 Santa Fe , I installed a clarion 675VD DVD player, and it sounds and looks great with Sirius radio, I used the Metra kits as presviously stated in the Forums by Silver Santa, Really good advice from him, I also used the Krylon Ultra Flat Camo spray paint with fusion technology, it sticks like crazy, and really matches 100% the dash. Thanks for everyone's help. Any discoloration in the photos that you see is just some dash protectant that the cdar wash place put on my dash, that hasn't dried yet, literally the paint matches perfectly.

Really simple install, just follow the instructions in the metra kit, and buy the wiring harness, only took me about 1 hour to install.
Best thing is to use a high quality flat head screwdriver to help pry up the dash panels, after you unscrew under th dash. I cleaned and painted the metra kit with no sanding, and I am amazed how well it matches the dash, literally I think this stereo is the best for integration to an Ipod. It has onscreen ipod controls, I wired the cables just down the center console by pushing them up between the carpet and the console, super simple.
I didn't want to integrate to the emergency brake so a simple switch from radio shack wired to ground did the trick , all that is needed is to click it on, and the unit will play video, - the clarion units need to see the state change to ground to play video so, just wiring to ground won't work.
It's illegal, but there was no way in **** I was going to tear apart the console to get to the EM brake wire.

I purchased the Kit and Wire Harness from installer.com, and after removing just 4 screws, I was able to take off the panel below the steering column, then just used a flat head screwdriver to pry up the plastic dash panels.
After that, 6 screws later the radio comes right out.
Everything else is just pretty much straight forward, I have a GLS base model, so there really isn't much electronics in the dash, there is tons of room in there for wires etc...
Sirius seems to give much better quality for SAT radio, as the old stereo had XM and it wasn't that good. The thing that makes this stereo unique is the onscreen Ipod control, - you cant beat that.
Also pictures is my tomto GPS, I use a seperate unit as I like it in my field of view, and not in the dash, but the tomtom can connect to your PC to load data, and plan trips etc.. it also doubles as a
hands free bluetooth system.
In all, it looks really factory, and performs soooo much better than the stock radio.

Just curious, when you took out the stock unit, did you notice any kind of aux input on the back of it, like an 8-pin or something similar?

The only thing I'm hoping to do differently is to install an ipod dock in the ashtray. I'm pretty sure I can mod a dock to fit, I'm just hoping it won't be a problem to route the wires there. From what you're telling me, it seems it will be quite doable.

Where did you purchase your unit from and how hard do you think it would be to run the wiring for rear headrest monitors?

ok, here's my thoughts :

Wiring to the headrests are EASY, Just run the wires down the inside of the dash and just run them down the inside of the center armrest. Literally by just pushing them up under the plastic, between the carpet and armrest.
Then just run the wire under the seat, and ito the seat from below.

As far as the ashtray, I think that might be a tight fit, and will require a dremel tool, or some cutting, but it comes out easily with just a few screws, and it comes out as part of the dash trim plastic piece.
I wouldn't reccomend putting an ipod in there but with some time on a work bench, the right tools etc.. It could be done.

I purchased my radio from sonic electronics, mail order for $650 , and I got the wiring ad dash kits from installer.com

Man, the stock radio is a joke.
literally , no input, no changer port ( I have the GLS model, because I wanted stick shift) it has XM radio , but no input the back is just the wiring harness input, it's a cheap unit, and I really saw that as the only weak link in the santa fe 07 . Only reason I put my stereo in is that i wanted to connect my ipod. Not to mention, putting in the new radio has so much more power the stock speakers ROCK.
The factory head units are really a joke.

Very nice, thanks for the pics. I have been contemplating this same thing, only with GPS in the unit. How do you find the tomtom unit, and what happens for audible directions if you have music on?

I use and love the tomotom because I can connect it to my computer, it's inmy field of view and the integration with my phone is SOLID.
plus it saved me about $500 over buying the clarion GPS unit. I dont use the voice directons too much , but when I do I dont hear it when my music is up I didnt want some complicated gps unit interrupting my tunes either.

anyone know if the clarion WXZ468RMP would fit?

A quick google search reveals that the two models (WXZ468RMP and MAX675VD) have nearly identical dimensions, so I'm guessing it would fit just fine.

Can't believe I didn't ask this earlier. Did you do anything so you could retain use of the steering wheel audio controls?

My car doesn't even have steering wheel controls, because I wanted 5 speed, I had to get the GLS...
The wiring harness from Metra was so **** new that I doubt that they have a product out YET that keeps the controls, but I do know that "sliverSanta" on this post has used a product that keeps the steering wheel controls, I think you'll just have to wait about 4-6 months, for the additional kits and wiring harnesses to work.

-Regarding the size: I serioulsy doubt you'll have issues with the size. there's about 8.5" of depth in that dash for a double size din unit, so you should be fine.

Did you add a subwoofer? I am thinnking the OEM speakers are probably pretty good, and seem to send some good base. I don't want thumping, but I do like fullness.

I juat have stock speakers, there's good base, and it is very full/ rich
I also assume that if you add aftermarket speakers in the doors it will totally rock.

That looks like a perfect install, It keeps a lot of the "factory fit" look but adds all of the things that the stock headunit lacks, however I have to ask, At $650 in the U.S and over £500 in the U.K.!! the head unit you have chosen is not cheap, are you going to rely on the stock security or will you be upgrading it?

Also, Now that you have seen the interior of the dash from the installation how secure is it? Could a potential thief whip it away in seconds?

We have a lot of issues with Car crime here in the UK and things like security have to play a major part in the decision making process when buying a new headunit.
