Once you go Mac, you'll never go back. Can't wait for the new iMac to be released. Got the Visa card warmed up, and ready. Leopard looks fine, but Tiger does what it needs to.

I followed madderhatter's advice and just bought a killer new Lap Top with Vista Home premium. Many of my devices & programs are not Vista complient. However I have adapted and am looking forward to burning my first DVD. I have no idea how. :whistling:

Why with the Dual core Processor its like having two Computers in one.

I can watch TV stuff now on this. Wait, that is why I bought the new HDTV :whistling:

Still using XP (best OS Microsoft has ever put out and I've been with them since DOS 3.3) Also using Ubuntu. Actually using Ubuntu more than Windows lately. Tried a bunch of distros, but liked Ubuntu best. Ubuntu is not "The Windows killer" though. From what I've heard, Vista is "The Windows Killer." Haven't used it yet, just going on what I've read, and what friends are saying. Maybe it does get better after some burn in time, but I'm certainly in no hurry to up?grade.

Cheers!
Scotty

No lies from me, it does have it's bugs. Mostly from slacker companies that never "got around" to writing compliant drivers, but they're getting around to it. I'd say about 95% of them are covered.

Big *nix fan here as well ... Redhat Enterprise, Fedora Core *, Ubuntu, Slackware, FreeBSD, etc. Been using DOS forever, first programming class in 1981 on an Apple IIc - state of the art !

You're right about XP Pro - rock solid. If it weren't for the fact that I get Vista from work (since I do a lot of work from home) I would have waited to upgrade until SP1 comes out, if I had to pay for it. Running Ultimate here at home and Enterprise (business) at work. The business version has been flawless. Ultimate hit a few road bumps but mostly because I opted for the "upgrade" path instead of a clean install. But since those few road bumps it's been rock solid for the most part running on brand new hardware.

I tried Vista for a while, and although it was visually more impressive than XP, and did have some other nifty little extras, I simply had too many incompatibilities with certain software and hardware (biggest being that I'm using an old ASUS SKT939 mobo, and driver support wasn't spectacular).
On switching back to XP, the performance gain was quite astounding - I didn't realise how much strain Vista was putting on my system (and it's not exactly a low-end machine, OCd dualcore Opty, etc etc).
I'll give Vista another couple of years I think - by then I'll probably have updated to some quadcore bloody thing (though it does seem annoying that you'd need to upgrade to a whizzbang machine, just to get a shiny desktop, and a better search function...).
