My wife had a little 'incident' with the Santa Fe this AM... damage does not look so bad.

The front bumper cover is broken, the headlight lens is cracked and the fender is shot. there appears to be no structural damage, although the radiator support bracket is also cracked (under)

Any guesses at how much to fix??

This will make you sick.

You are one smart cookie - $4371.62 with taxes

Get these prices for parts:

Headlight assembly $817.12
Bumper Cover $536.37
Fender $380.23
Radiator Support $481.81

The Rad support is the real killer, it is a single composite piece that runs all along the front between each fender. In the Santa Fe, that piece is 'what they call 'composite' or what we call 'plastic'. There is a small crack where it hooks up with the fender. In order to replace, they must remove and drain the coolant/radiator and AC.

Anyway, please drive with care, these babies are expensive to repair!!!!

That really sucks Bimmer! You're right about the Rad bracket cost - that's just insane! Obviously she couldn't have been going that fast so those things must be either really fragile or in a really bad spot.

My condolences :crying:

Price on the radiator support have come down. The '06 Sonata was the first to use the "plastic" radiator support. When they first came out, they were $800+ list price. Prices have come down on them significantly though since then.

The main issue with the 'plastic' rad support is that you need to remove everything from the front of the car, incl rad, coolant, ac system, freon (or whatever they call it now) in order to replace it because a small clip (ie. anchoring point) was broken off... Huge labor cost

The one that shocks me most is the $817 headlight assembly. That seems really excessive. Whats up with that?

The only broken part on that assembly is the clear lens cover, you'd think that you could replace that part alone... but the headlight cover is fused to the assembly, can't separate the two.

@Bimmer:
Sneak in the Sonata Forum - Someone has contacts to Korea. For THAT price you get both (left and right) Euro style.

Depending on your agent and/or body-shop no problem...
Remember (not valid for the new SF) how often ORIGINAL sheetmetal parts are quoted and cheaper aftermarket is used ... same issue.
