Hi Guys

Been a while since I posted on here.

Some of you may have heard of the GETZTC project car put together by Hyundai here in Oz CLICK HERE FOR AN ONLINE ARTICLE ON THE CAR .

Well, I just bought the complete turbo kit that was fitted to that car from PSC here in Oz to fit to my 1.6l 3dr Getz  . PSC are great value to deal with, even threw in a short shifter and delivery to Canberra!!

Will update on the fitting and driving experience in the next week or two (and no doubt on the clutch replacement within a couple of weeks!).

Cheers

Brett

Cost was $4k including the turbo, aftermarket ECU, full 2.5" exhaust, intercooler, injectors, modified sump etc. a great deal given that it has only done 4-5,000 km's  .

As for power, it should push the flywheel kw up to around 120-125 in the kit's present state of tune at 7 psi max (approx 60% increase), however, i'm keen to wind the boost up and have the ECU remapped once I upgrade the standard clutch which isn't expected to last long :P

Pics will come!

good stuff man, what ecu did u get with it? microtech or a remapped OE one?

are the injectors, pressure regulator and fuel pump all standard?

be careful not to boost it too much tho, but that said, if the motor blows, rebuilding with forgies and strong rods would make it a sweet motor!

ive heard that exhaust/turbo setup has a really nice sound too, enjoy it friend!

ps. how many kays has your car done?

The ECU is the same Autronic SMC that was fitted to GetzTC so it's easily adjustable on a dyno if I decide to play with it a little. Also comes with upgraded injectors but I think the pump and reg were standard items.

I'm told 10 psi would be safe providing the ECU is remapped to suit, that will definitely require a clutch upgrade tho (and most likely fuel pump and reg). I'm not really interested in cracking the engine open at present but I guess we'll have to wait and see whether the bug really bites :P , I haven't played around with fwd cars before so this will be a learning experience, like having to deal with torque steer  .

The car has 14,000 kms on it from new.

Did you install it already? I am anxious to see it! :) If you did you are probably just driving around with a smile on your face. :)

Still waiting alien-w, I have sent the exhaust manifold and dump pipe off to get ceramic coated to help keep heat down (and hopefully help prevent possible heat damage to the alternator and fans). Maybe two weeks and it should be up and running, cant wait!!

Nice wheels ... if we had better roads I would also go for 17 inch, but I am on 16 now. It still looks good, but this is really BADASS!

Like the colour! :) Maybe because I have it myself also? :D

I envy you so much!
BTW: are your windows tinted?
How much is the car lowered from the original height?
Are you planning to upgrade the brakes also?

Thanks Alien

Yes windows are tinted. Car is about 30mm lower than stock (King Springs). Not sure about brakes, will wait to see what the engineer has to say when he drives if before giving it the OK.

Here are some quick and old preview pictures of mine. I have yet to repaint the inside, outside, tint the windows, and re-upholster the interior. Before i take the engine apart for polishing and chroming when it gets rebuilt..
