Not sure if I have a favorite. I currently have a Ruger P90DC .45 ACP that I love.

Some that I have owned and really liked a lot are:
Beretta 92FS 9mm

Glock 19 9mm

Desert Eagle .44

I traded the Desert Eagle for a SPAS-12. I may have to get another small frame Glock for carrying - the Ruger is a little big for concealment.

Being a Canadian and therefore totally forbidden to own most handguns, let alone carry one concealed, I really envy you guys. It seems like the only people who carry guns in Canada are the bad guys and the cops (who, even with a response time of a couple of minutes in some cases, just can't get there in time). This type of tragedy is becoming more and more commonplace. I'm not sure if a firearm could have saved this gentleman, but it would have been nice to at least have a chance to fight back. "Victim gunned down in case of mistaken identity"

By the way, I like your Glock, Hatter. I also like the SW9E

Very nice ! I'm headed to a local gun show next weekend looking for an XD .45ACP. I'm going after the 4" model in all black. That should be a lot better for concealed carry than the Ruger P90DC .45. It's a little on the large size.

I agree with you 100 percent - until people figure out how to keep guns out of the hands of bad guys they need badly to let the good guys have them. Otherwise it's a very unfair and one-sided losing battle.

Hi guys,

Praise the Lord that you ain't here in OZ! We were disarmed a number of years ago, so you can't even keep a .22 semi in the gun cupboard unless you belong to a registered shooting club and attend shoots regularly.

Spare a thought for security guards who, because of their job, need a pistol license. The rub is that can't use them because it constitutes assault to draw their weapon and worse if they actually shoot some baddy. Added to that is the requirement to have the pistol locked in a strongbox in the rear of your car whilst travelling to and from shooting ranges.
So, no license, no gun and if you do have a license, you should know better than to use it for work! Go figure...

Having worked in security roles, I came into contact with the odd weapon.

The most wicked device I laid eyes on was a Desert Eagle .50 cal. Heavy mutha!

The owner had a lash with some .50 cal ballistics before he had it dechambered to .44 .

EVIL muzzle flash as well. At least 3ft long in the photos.

Glock 9mm is very popular here. Looks very Fisher-Price"My First Handgun".

No doubting it's efficiency, though.

Looking forward to the time when I can buy a "...pulse laser rifle in the 5 watt range..."

Cheers,

Andrew

Ah yes, the venerable Desert Eagle 50AE (Auto Express). I've held one before but never fired one. How about that new Smith & Wesson .50 revolver - the .500 Magnum.

my tax return will be going towards my first pistol. I have it down to 3 depending on how much I get back-
-Sig P220 single action
- 1911, most likely a Springfield
-Springfield XD- most likely choice, good price, 9mm won't be as painful on the wallet to shoot either.
NH is pretty friendly to gun owners- you don't need any permits to own pistols or rifles, a carry license is less paper than when I renew my drivers license :D One of the local papers publishes a small column called "armed citizen stories" where citizens who legally own a pistol saved themselves or others with their gun. Guess all that adds up to why NH has a pretty low crime rate :D

Hey Mike, I picked up my XD .45 yesterday and I love it. Even without shooting it yet. Lots of great features and nice accessories come with it. Lifetime warranty from Springfield too ! That's one thing I didn't know about.

I did get the 4" model and other than being one inch shorter than my Ruger P90DC it's roughly the same size - guess I should have checked specs closer. If I was going to use it full time concealed carry I might have went with the 3" sub-compact. But I was really looking for one to conceal in the car full time. With the clip it's actually heavier than the all metal and slightly larger Ruger. Must be the fact that it holds TWICE the ammo, ya think ?

Getting my CC license here was a no-brainer as well. No classes or anything since I'm prior military. Just had to provided a notarized copy of my DD214, get electronically fingerprinted at the sheriff's office, and turn it all in with a check. From turning the package in until I received the license in the mail took 9 days. The guy at the sheriff's office told me they send the electronic fingerprints to the FBI for the background check via secure encrypted e-mail. They were probably at the FBI before I even got back to the car. So while everyone else was having to wait three days at the gun show to get theirs I got to walk out with mine

Sorry but until someone kills all the scumbag criminals there is a need for the responsible citizen to own firearms. While I have the utmost police officers, and everything they do to keep my town/state/country safe, they cannot be everywhere all the time. And in this fine state if someone has forced their way into my home I have the right to use deadly force to diffuse the situation.

Anyhow to everyone else- I'm waiting on one more purchase summary from one of my tool suppliers so I can write off all my tools I've bought in 2006, then I will file, and hopefully get a nice check in return to go shopping :D

My latest obsession...

FN P-90 video clip from YouTube

Not a handgun, but still pretty compact.

Hogue (sp?) grips from the factory, it has a different style safety (still a decocker. My slide is also black, looks like yours is stainless. I love it. It feels a bit bulky for concealed carry but the proper holster might help that.

Springfield XD series are probably my favorite handguns as far as reliable and practicle firearms go.

My all time favorite would be any of the 1911 series .45 handguns. Nothing like the feeling of a cannon in your hand.

Vulcan, does the Canadian government consider your S&W: Prohibited, Restricted, or Non-restricted? I just can't figure out what's going on, even after reading the CFC website and a lot of other sites too.
