The solar guard film is in between two sheets of glass and blocks UV rays to help protect the interior. I've got it and 35% tint.

Here's a link to the PPG Solargreen webpage that is used on my Sonata:

PPG Solargreen Webpage

The transmittance graph isn't too precise but it looks like some of the UVA (320-400 nm) gets through while UVB (290-320 nm) and below drop right off the chart. The visible light looks pretty good in the tall hill region (400-750 nm). Everything else on the chart is infrared. The peak around 500 nm hits right around the visible blue-green area and probably accounts for the slight greenish tint of the windows. Ideally I think you'd want a window that is has high transmittance in the visible region and none outside of it, and this glass formulation comes close to achieving that by significantly attenuating UV and some IR.

As a side note, I seem to have a talent for purchasing cars with lousy air conditioning, but this last summer I was very pleased with my Sonata's A/C performance. Probably a combination of silver color, solar windows, and a strong system.

Solar control glass was standard on the GLS V6 and LX model for 2006, it is standard SE and Limited models as of 2008- current.

got me laughing there

Yep I got the solargreen tinted glass on my '06 GLS plus the recent addition of 20% tint all around. I'm hoping if I ever get pulled over I'll show the cops the solargreen info and say it was factory tint  :whistling:

PLUS if he started a new thread he'd get counselled by the search police saying "why start a new thread"?

Not if he had something valid to input, but what was posted was kind of old news.

I'm just posting in this thread to bump my post count, pretty much like....
