Hey everyone.
Just Saw demo video at Hyundai of the 07 Tibby, the new specs etc. They are fine tuning , but 08 Will be Same Body style but RWD!!! I have no clue why the 07 Couldnt be RWD. But im waiting til next year when the 08 production line comes out to get my hands on a RWD Tibby. I just went to the dealership and was talking over with a sale rep on the 07-08 Tiburon. If i can get my hands on an Article in writing or find it published somewhere that is a crediable source you all will be the first to know. Just what Hyundai told me and im passing it on.

I'll believe it when I see it. There's no reason to keep the same body but make it RWD. It's too much work. IF they decide to make a RWD Tib it will most likely be entirely new.

Not calling you a liar, there's just so much speculation that no one really knows for sure until they actually do it.

'08 won't be rwd. It will be the same as the '07. Way too much work to make the same car rwd. No central tunnel for a driveshaft, have to completely redo the rear suspension, front suspension, change the engine layout. Not happening. Plus, '09 will be a completely new model, so why waste the money on r&d to make the '08 rwd, when you they have a completely new car coming out a year later. I was in Korea with Hyundai in July. I have seen the specs on the '09, and a couple pictures. The wait will be worth it for the '09.

Well i hear ya on having to re-design the chassis....but the body panels and fram could be almost identical. Just going off the hear-say from the dealership. Im still trying to milk some information out of them so i can get a photo or something to scan and upload.

But the talk has been out there for a while now for RWD and still nothing. I guess we wll just wait and see.

lol the whole thing with the tiburon is that it is an affordable sport compact. make it RWD and the price will sky rocket. that wont happen, Hyundai doesnt have the balls

if u want something RWD, get a real car...like a camaro or mustang

the front clip wouldn't be able to stay the same, it would have to be longer, and taller too, in addition to all the other modifications necessary that were already mentioned.

I live in Korea, and I have recently visited Hyundai car manufacture and spoke to one of high class management person. He could not give me the exact answer but he said there is going to be another F/L 3 (Face lift model) in 2008 with another minor change. I highly doubt that Tiburon will be RWD in 2008. not for another 5-10years.

DanTheMan is correct, FWD makes a great grocery getter or a semi-sporty car but not a 'real' sports car.

LowSanoma is correct in that major retooling would be in order, driveshaft tunnel etc.
