Hi every body ..
every time I go to hyundai service center for oil change , they use mobil 1 0w-40 , but this time at the 30 000 km service they told me that they had stopped dealing with mobil and they are using shell helix ultra 15w-50 , so which oil in your opinion would be the best ? and which is more recommened for our matrix ? shall I continue using the new shell helix ultra or get back to mobil 1 ?
thanks in advance '
Ahmad Abdallah

In your climate 15W50 will be fine, but I don't think this is a fully synthetic oil.
My first choice would be a 10W40 or 50 synthetic or 0W40 and Mobil1 is in that weight is fully synthetic so that would be my choice. Whenever you can and especially in hot climate synthetic oil will outperform mineral oil all the time.

The reason they switched to Shell I heard is that there is a problem with Mobil 1 and it caused lots of problems as it is low quality. I have a question, I did not service my car at 5000km and the car did 9800 now and i'm sending it for the 10000 service. Is ther anything different between the 5000 and 10000 service???

HI,
i am RORO from egypt,I own 1.6 2005 Matrix. For quite a while I have been experiencing a noisy engine as many of you. Let me share with you what my mechanic told me and the problem was solved like magic. If you are using mobil 1 stop using it as the viscosity in mobil 1 is too low. I added one of those oil cans USA product that increase the viscosity to my engine and the mechanic stretched the wire of the accelarator that was loose and this give you the feeling that the engine lacks power. Now my engine is running very smooth with more power and speed at the simplest touch. planninmg to use shell helix oil next time.

Iam using now shell helix ultra 15w-50 ... I noticed a notable noise reduction in the engine .. but also a notable loss of power !!!

Ahmed & Roro,

Kindly post your current assessment after using Shell Helix other than Mobil 1 for a while.
I thought initially Mobil one is the best choice as it'a 100% synthetic & this should be good for hot climate as in Egypt.

Hello,
This is Scott from florida. I would not use either of the oils mentioned. Do some research on Amsoil 0w-30. This is really good stuff.

for mr sbadrdin ...
the engine runs smoother now with less noise but with a little but notable loss of power , and a little but also notable increase in fuel consumption , I noticed also the shell helix ultra is more life lasting than mobil one , as you can use it for up to 12000 km with little viscosity change , unlike mobil 1 that must be replaced after exactly 10000 km ...

for mr Highlander 1 , it seems you are new to the forum , you are welcome , unlike the USA , in Egypt I don't think we that brand of oil , our top oil brands are mobil , esso , caltyx , shell , and the egyptian petroleum company engine oils .... i don't think there are other brands up here ... any way its fantastic to share issues over seas between Egypt and the USA ....

Have a nice day to all of u ...

Red Line’s synthetic engine oils 10W40 946 ML
Red Line?
Here in Greece is not popular (only in a e-shop) you can find it...
Also the oil which Scott told you...
But is the best oil ever...
Maybe in Egypt need a 15-50W because is hotter than Greece

AMSOIL all the way if you want a true Syntheitic Oil that will protect yoru engine. Not to mention the 25,000 km oil filters and 50,000km oil change intervals.

Hi there everyone.

Over here in Malaysia we hv quite a no of brands of motor oil.

Highlander1,
The brand u mentioned we hv it here as Amoil, if not mistaken. We have Redline too, but only in selected shops.

I have yet to use Mobil 1 or Shell Helix Ultra. I've been using Castrol Magnatec 10w40 semi synth for quite some time now, and quite happy wt it. I've had my car for 3 yrs now n it's mileage is at 116, 7++ kms.

Some frens of mine r using Mobil 1 5w-50, Esso and Petronas Mach5(local brand).

Of course wt fully synth oils, u can hv longer service intervals.

What matters most, u stick to the right grade...

Hi
this is Mohammed from sudan

0w-30 this is a very narrow temp range i would not prefer this as the temperature of the weather could not be predictable.
