Has anyone,

Got a Workshop or Professional Service Manual or know the correct answer?

I want to be able to change the transmission fluid and would like to know the best way to do it and location of the drain-plug, if there is one.

the drainplug is on the bottom of the trans case, its a big 24mm bolt. Make sure you don't loose the washer when you remove the plug, and clean the magnet on the end of the bolt, its designed to collect gunk from the fluid. Be sure to use Hyundai fluid SPF-III, the generic stuff won't work. It should take about 5 quarts, unless the models you get are different than US-spec models.

Thanks MikeNH,

Txmsn should be the same I'd think. Is there no filter?

Did/do you crank it on the starter to empty the TC or was that 5 quarts just simple drain?

I'll be using this stuff; possibly the best txmsn fluid available:-

5 quarts is a simple drain and fill, I'm not a fan of cranking it, even breifly with low/no fliud in the trans, its just asking for trouble. And do not use the Castrol fluid! Hyundai trans. fluid is unique from many other manufacturers and other types/brands of fluid can damage the transmission.

See my post here:

Think this is b.s. requiring Hyundai fluid. Better to use pure synthetic, and best of all, let Amzoil guarantee it if it fails. Seems like it's almost same cost as synthetic blend that Hyundai dealership sells?
