Hi all
I have recently joined and would like to pick some brians.I recently got my cars cylinder head done. The mac's did the valve guides, replaced some valves and replaced the hydraulic lifters. I got all the old spares but as I do not know these cars very well I have no idea what the lifter look like. The car is very noisy at startup and running and is very underpowered. Can some one explain or attach an pic of a sample lifter for me. I take it if it was replaced it should not be noisy now and the car should run like a mad thing as if the devils behind it!! :(

Hello 1CE,

Noisy and underpowered?

Are your mechanics reliable?

Did they fit the timing belt correctly?

Is your engine oil up to at least minimum level?

Rather than engaging in a crash course in mechanical studies, why not find another mechanic to diagnose your issue. I think you'll find it cheaper and faster in the long run.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Andrew

Hi
Mechanics fine, engine oil fine. Timing belt fitment - wasn't there when done. Just asked if someone has an example of the lifters on this car as I do not know these cars.! :57:

Link to eBay item selling lifters for these motors

With pics!

Note: these are late model 3G lifters with the revised larger 3mm oil hole.
