Hi all,
I bought a 95 Hyundai Lantra (auto) a year ago, and its been working fine up until 4 weeks ago.
After driving it for about 10 minutes through varying speeds, the gear just switches into third, and won't change out. Even when coming to a stop, putting it in 'P', then back to 'D', it's still in third.
It only recovers after I switch the engine off, and back on again, then all gears change fine. Once this has happened, this WILL NOT occur again for that particular driving session, even after driving for hours.
Another 'possibly' related problem I've been having is about 2 weeks ago, the default idle level stopped working. By that I mean... cranking the engine started it, but it instantly stalled again. This has been (temporarily) fixed by increasing the air-intake (in non-tech terms - sliding up the metal bar at the rear of the engine).
I recently joined this forum but couldn't find anyone with the exact problems as mine. Does anyone have any thoughts before I take this to a mechanic and get charged through the roof? ;¬)
