We just bought a new 2006 Azera. We love the car. About 2 days after buying the car we went to Taco Bell and order some food from the Drive through. Everything you order at Taco Bell comes with a garbage can size soft dirnk. I ordered a Pepsi. When we got to the window and I was bringing the wet massive amount of cola into the car (which I didn't even want), I lost my grip and spilled the whole cup all over the center console.

We cleaned up as mush as we could and thought we had done a good job but about 2 weeks later we noticed the shifter was getting hard to move. The plastic sleeve was binding when you try to move the shifter.

Clearly some of the cola went into the console and dried into a sticky goop.

Can someone tell me how or send me a link to where I can find instructions to remove the center console and clean out the mess?

I've tried stuffing alchohol drenched quetips between the sleeve and the console to clean it out but it's not really working.

I've looked closey and can only find three screws on the each side of the console. I'd hate to have to pay the dealership for something like this.

I found exactly what you need on webtech but I can't seem to get the pictures to post over to here for you.

Webtech is Hyundai's online service manual that is accessable to both dealerships as well as the general public.

You can find it at hmaservice.com It is a a bit quirky in that you will have to register (free) and use internet explorer only.

Once you register you might need to click the forgot password link to expididte the password email you wil need to get in.

Once in click service info on the top left then click the 'shop' manual tab

Select your model and year (no need to worry about the vin)

Click the book icons that appear for Body (interior & Exterior), Interior, Console.

Then click on the word "replacement"

An article should appear on the right that details the steps for dis-assembling the console.

Hope this helps and good luck.

Hi Youbee
I would take the car to the dealer and have them do it and I'd also ask them to check if your Pepsi might have damaged something else, you never know!

Hope you enjoy your Azera as much as I do mine!

Glad to help.

I was thinking about your original post about Taco Bell's drink cups being the size of a trash can  after I saw a taco bell comercial tonight.

Maybe thier slogan shouldn't be 'good to go' but rather 'gotta go' after so much to drink.

Final Update: I ended up paying the dealer 85 bucks to clean it out for me. The above link to webtech turned out the be a web page which has been seriously neglected.

If you can get in and if you can find what you are looking for, it does NOT come with pics but the text was written with the pics in mind.

Tried looking at the Sonata pics and they were lacking detail.
