Well there is alot more damage then you can see. The frame was actualy twisted so they have to cut the peice out and weld a new peice in. The airbag is $600 right there and they have to replace the axle and gear box along with the entire suspension. The parts alone where $6,000 and $4,000 goes to painting and labor.

Any damage to the cabin where a passenger would have gotten hurt? I assume you're ok and the car did its job keeping you safe?

hey bro, why does it cost so much when a new ride is only $14,000 in your country where damage is not really very serious??? if in my country n such incidents happened, we will usually scrap it off if possible if the cost is near to a new one..

The cabin was not damaged the closest thing would be the area where the front door attaches is pushed in a little so they have to put the car on the frame straightener machine. The passenger front rail was bent so they have to cut the piece out and weld a new one in. The lower arm is bent and the spring is bent back about 5 inches. Also the axal is bent. The tire was torn open and the alloy wheel is cracked. Right now the engine is in piece in the trunk so they can work on the frame. The engine has basically no damage except for the windshield washer reservoir which was completely missing. It is about $5000 just in labor. So far they haven't replaced anything on the car. They where waiting on the new tire so they can at least move it to the frame straightener. All the parts are going to be new from Hyundai. No used parts at all. It may not look like much damage but remember I did get hit by a car going 50 mph+ and all the impact went straight on the frame rail. If the other car would have hit me just a inch back it woulda completly totaled the car. I mean it missed hitting the passanger door by less then a inch. lol the passanger door bearly has a scratch on it. Then again its really confusing because I can't really tell where the the car actually hit. Since the tire didnt look like it was pushed in just back so yea. I think the car hit me on an angle.
