Well this morning I was driving home from walmart was making a left turn at an intersection and didnt see this lady who was speeding around some cars and got hit... No one was placed at fault. Anyways let me tell you my car stood up to the crash. The other car was a Honda Civic which by looking at you could tell it was totaled. My car took a heavy inpact on the front passanger side wheelwell. I am still uncertin if its totaled but the drivers side airbag did deploy. I was unharmed. Now I see why it got good crash test ratings. I just hope it's fixable.. :( I kinda had my thumb in the way of the pics my car is the beige one.

06_pimped_accent,

Glad to know you're okay. I'm no expert but your car looks repairable. Chassis seems to be good as well.

I couldn't help but smile at the difference in damages that both cars resulted in. Looks like Hyundai makes very tough cars nowadays. I say this because about a couple of weeks ago, I got rear-ended quite hard by a Pacifica. I was getting ready to see the worst but when I stepped out and looked at it, it took me a few seconds to spot where I got hit. It's an extremely faint crease that's not even visible from 2 feet away.

Anyway, good luck with the car buddy. Let us all know how it goes.

-N-

Car has been looked over and is gonna be fixed the estamate is placed at $10,000 in repairs... The shop said it should be fixed in about a month..
Some of the things which needed to be replaced are..
*Bumper *Reinforcement beam *Head Lamp *RT Fender *RT Rail assy *RT Apron panel *Drivers side air bag *Ft Impact sensor *RT Strut *RT Knuckle *RT Lower centrl arm *RT Hub & bearing *RT Axle assy *Engine Cradle *Gear Assy *RT Front door outer panel *RT Front 15" alloy wheel *Windshield washer reservoir *Upper tie bar

When I went to the shop to check up on it a few days ago they had the engine being held up by a floor jack lol its the newest car in the shop tho

The frame was bent but they already cut the section out and are replacing it..

Haha when I went to the tow yard I looked at the other car (Honda Civic) the engine was on the ground lol and the bumper is where the front axle is I couldnt help but laugh. The main thing i love is the advanced airbags where it can sence when no one is in the passanger seat so the airbag wont go off. That right there saved a lot of money. My car was stoped and hit by a car moving 50mph and my car didnt even get moved lol and the honda just bounced off. I think my cars new name is Jesus.

Jesus? LOL!!! Nice one.

But listen, if the repairs DO come out to around $10,000 - can't your insurance just write it off and give you a new one?

My insurance is paying for the repairs they already wrote me a check for the $10,000. The only reason why they didnt total the car is because I havent made any payments on it yet lol. The car is only 3 weeks old I just got the plates on it.

Sorry about that crash man, it sucks that your car was one 3 week old. Sounds funny that the honda bounced off and was totaled. nobody was hurt in the accident, right?
take it easy

(but don't do that and drive at the same time)

That's okay - as long as the shop lines up the chassis and the body panels correctly, you should be golden when they're done with it.

I still couldn't believe how "well" your car took that impact, based on what the other car looks like. Simply awesome.

Judging from how Hyundai is constantly hammering us with their commercials on TV - I figured they must've gotten really confident with their cars and grown some serious balls. I can see why. LOL!

Cheers and let us know when you're car gets out - photos too!

Yes, Hyundais are very strong.

I have been hit several times in the rear with major repercussions for the hitter and little damage to the hittee(me).

Wasn't til I eyeballed the "w" section kevlar reinforced bar behind the bumper that I understood why. Very solidly engineered.

I also wrote off a Holden Cruze for the loss of a front left indicator and a front bumper skin.

Hyarnolddai rules!

Trakka,

I totally agree with you. When my Sonata got rear-ended a few weeks back, I was so sure I got plenty of damage. I knew I was gonna cry. Guess what, practically nothing.

Next day, I crawled underneath the back and started feeling for parts where I could stick my hand in - nothing bent, crumbled or otherwise out of shape. Brilliant.

Still couldn't believe it.
