I would -LOVE- to know this answer as well. I have a friend that now owns an 06 hyundai accent, and We were attempting to move his Kenwood setup to this new car, and have found NO resource for this. We dug around a bit in the car attempting to remove it but came to the same conclusion -- I don't wanna break it, so we didn't proceed taking any of those chances.
We brought the car to a local shop who used to be known for good work... Left it there for 6 hours, and was told 'we don't have the harness for it, we'll call you when we do.' -- He got the car back with some digs in his dash around the radio console... If he wanted those, we could have done it ourselves....
/sigh
So, to second his request -- Anyone have any swell info ? Crutchfield still has no docs on it yet.

I have a '04 Accent Sedan, and I'm not sure if it's the exact same, but I found that there are two screws holding the control sonsole facia at the bottom of the console. You have to eject the two drink holders half way out, to see, and remove the screws. (Maybe there's a way to remove the drink holders, but I havent' figured that out yet). The next problem is how to remove the cabin heating/cooling/fan controls from the facia, which are attatched, so the face plate can't be removed far enough to get at the radio!! :-(. If anyone else figures out this next step please let me know! Groucho

I have a 2006 Accent GLS. I am going to remove the factory CD radio and put in a MP3 CD player with an aux input on the front. It would be nice if the Accent stereo had an aux input on the front. I seriously don't understand why car makers are always way behind the times with car stereos. It took 10 years after the CD was standard for car makers to finally put them in cars, instead of cassette players. Now it's going to take 10 more years for them to put factory radios in cars with aux inputs on the front.
Anyways, I will try to post some of my progress. The 06 Accent stereo is the same as the one in the 2006 Kia Sportage. So search google for the 06 Sportage for more info on the radio.

Definitly let us know what you find! I couldn't figure out how to get it started. I'm far from new at doing stereos but I'm not doing it for a living either, and don't wanna break my buddy's new car.

Okay I removed the glove box, then removed several screws and bolts of the lower cream colored panel, from the right side (inside the door), and also along the bottom, and from the left side (inside door). The section under the steering wheel is off; but not the section on the right. So pretty much that right entire lower panel is loose. I can gently nudge it and wiggle the entire panel, but the center section (a/c controls/radio) is still firmly seated. I can't figure out how to remove just the center sections only. And when I nudge it back and forth, the ENTIRE top dash moves (passenger airbag/everything).
Most car stereo diagrams show how you take out one or two screws in the center console, and the middle section pops out. There has to be an easy way to get to the radio without having to disassemble the entire dashboard all the way across.
I'm going to keep trying tomorrow.

Cool, so far so good! Keep me posted -- If you find the way and document it like you just did, I'll do the same in my bud's car and do some photo-idge of it, so we can put it online here somewhere. ;)

Okay got my radio out. You don't have to remove any of the dashboard, it turns out. Check out this post here: http://www.hyundai-forums.com/t11898-takin...accent-dash.htmhttp://www.hyundai-forums.com/t8161-cd-player-removal.htmFor info and other pics. It's a PITA to remove the plastic cover face plate/trim around the stereo. Careful as the plastic scratches VERY easily. Now I can't find a working wire harness locally. I've check 20 car audio stores, no one has anything that will fit. I'm getting ready to make a big trip and don't have time to order a harness, so I might just splice my new radio in. I found wire color codes for a 2006 Kia Rio, which has the same radio as the 06 Accent, here: http://www.kiatechinfo.com/viewer/default.asp?group=etmEdit: Those Kia Rio color codes DO NOT work. The Accent has several colored wires (pink, grey with brown strip, etc.) that are not on that Kia Rio diagram. I'm just going to have to sit with the factory radio for now, looks like, and order the official scosche stuff later to get my aftermarket radio in.
