They actually do. From the pictures, looks like they are from India or Indonesia (my original home country) or other 3rd world country. Motorcycles (more like scooters, not big racing motorcycle you see on US streets) are everywhere. These people are very resourceful, not only in auto vehicle usage.
In case if the picture was from Indonesia, Toyota produce "Kijang" out of Indonesia. "Kijang" is an MPV that hauls in tons of people. Seeing a whole extended family stuffed into one of these MPV is a common sight. My family back home has one too. As of late, Toyota is exporting these "Kijang" out of Indonesia to other countries around the world, except United States.... When my wife visited Indonesia with me, she was surprised to see how common a motorcycle (scooters) was riden by a family of 5 and it was a common sight. I may have some pictures that I can load..(I will look around)

This was only 2 or 3 years ago. Our goverment subsidizes big time back then. They are changing it now, cos' it eats up the country's budget too much. International fuel price is too expensive and fluctuate too much.
