I just bought a Hyundai Lantra, original year should be 1996 (maybe it is manufactured in late 1995), Engine says to be a petrol 1596 cc 66 kW (90bhp) in papers.
Because i can buy parts cheaper from my friend (i mean at least 2 times compared to dealer), i want to buy belt for the engine and some other stuff to replace (normally done every 60000 km). But i have come to a problem, i can't understand what parts to buy, because i cant make up what engine model this is. Everywhere i look it says that 1.6L is 84 kW engine and parts come for that. (codes are like this: "G4GR"; "G4GM" and so on)

Under the bonnet i can see DOCH, 16V. On the side of the engine there is "B16" and on the plastic cover there are different codes: "PA6-M30"; "PA66-GF13-M25" on the side plastic i can see "PP-GF3-T23". Unfortunately these don't say much to me. I can also see there was a paper sign on the plastic, but it is now a blank one, no tint survived 10 years :P

Are there experts who can help? The guy i bought it from was a car-yard salesman who said it was a mitsubishi engine and gearbox, i have not found any help from that either, he doesn't know more, previous owner was from another country, that car was imported.

I appreciate any help a lot! Thanks in advance! (I would like to know the engine code, like G4GR stands for 1.6 liter (1599 cc) 85kW engine)

under the bonnet, which side is your timing belt? left or right? if left, then it's a hyundai beta engine that are the same as 2g-3g lantra model.also coupe 96.you won't find any problem since the parts are common.it comes with 2 tensioner bearing but you need to buy the oil seal.the best, you change the water pump together.
if it's at right side.it's a mitsubishi mirage 4g62. you can get it at mits dealer for cheaper price.look at 1g forums since it's belong there..
