Hi everyone

About to decide between a 2006 Terracan auto or a 2006 Sorento auto.

Any drastic issues with the Terracan I should know about?

Is the rear diff problem widespread? What about depreciation?

I'm on my second Terracan and cover 40000 miles a year, no choice as far as I am concerned my new car (55 plate crdt auto) has now done 18000 miles in five months with no repeat of diff probs on my previous 04 plate and overall a perfect car with NO faults. The suspension on the facelift model has also been tweaked for uk roads with a huge improvement over the older model.

Now to depreciation my 04 plate went through a local auction at two years old with 75000 miles on it at £10000, I was told it would have been around £12000 with average mileage.

Terracan and sorrento share a lot of components, I would go Terracan anytime as it is much bigger inside.

cheers Hammy

Thanks. I did buy a Terracan in the end, in preference to a Sorento. The main reason was the space, as we carry a wheelchair for my better half. The car was apparently the first Terracan in the UK to have Jeff Gosling hand controls fitted.

The only odd thing for us is that when reversing in 4WD on full lock on not very slippery grass, the transmission gets very tight - not like our previous Shogun Pinin which had a full 2WD / 4WD system.

Two weeks in, we set off to France with a 1500kg caravan and have just returned with 3500 miles on the clock.

No problems to report apart from the Climate Control losing a couple of functions, so a visit to the dealer is on the horizon.
