Oil catch can

I have a 2012 with LAP3 Uncle Chip, HKS M45XL Spark Plugs and saikou michi oil catch cans on both sides intake and PCV. The oil catch can on the PCV side has been catching a nice amount of junk, I drain it every time I give my car an oil change. I know the PCV side will catch alot more then the intake side but I have not gotten a drop from the intake side since I installed it 6000 miles ago. Should I have gotten something by now?

I have a very similar setup as you and get the same results. Normal.

I suspect as the another poster mentioned that unless you are on boost a lot (I'm not, it's my DD), you likely won't be in a position to need to catch much. In fact, the air flows reverse in the intake catch can into your valve cover when not in boost, assuming a normally functioning engine. This is your "fresh air" port. The PCV side is under a strong vacuum when not in boost and is your "foul air" port in this mode. The catch can catches the oily mist that would have been sucked into the PCV system's intake port on the intake manifold.

Okay thanks for the info, I just wanted to make sure there wasn't anything wrong. I know I read awhile back that a few people were getting a small amount on the intake side. I was thinking I should have at least seen a drop come out of it, it's my DD too and there are times when I do hit the throttle hard.

You won't get much in either can unless you do the pcv delete. I did the pcv delete for about 1500 miles and was catching a good bit in both cans. Though keep in mind the pcv delete is a vent to atmosphere setup so you will smell oil/fuel fumes when you start the car. This is my daily driver so I just rerouted the cans back to normal.

This is 650 miles with the pcv delete.



I have intake, full exhaust, Lap 3 1.5+ HFC tune (had the tune since July). I don't catch much at all in either can now, but did notice a bit more when I switched up the pcv hose. If you have the Saikou cans a 1/2 hose will connect from the can to the intake manifold port. That stock hose can cause a lot of issues, it's best to get rid of it.

What is the pcv delete? Is that the cans with the air vent with filter on top of the can?

That is pretty normal for our dual SM setup. I'd leave it be as it is working as it should.

This is a straight through fitting that replaces the pcv valve. The hose to the intake manifold is plugged and the outlet from both cans are combined to the intake low vacuum side.



Lap 3 Stage 2 tune will be available in a couple months and this is one of the requirements. This is also more/less how the lap 3 can is routed, though it goes to a single can.
