Upgrade to Factory Radio
I recently bought a 2011 Sonata Turbo 2.0 SE/Limited edition. It came with the most basic model of a stereo. While it does have bluetooth, which was a biggie for me, it is pretty basic, and does not have HD radio. Is there a way i can upgrade to the Hyundai factory nav system version of the stereo, or does anyone have any recommendations for installing a 3rd party stereo with nav?
There are several threads on aftermarket stereos, and those can be very instructive. Look in the YF Sonata forum (not the turbo forum) for best info.
As far as upgrading to factory nav, that is a non-starter. The factory nav system utilized digital audio out to a digital amp. Without the amp and the required digital wiring (which isn't in the non-nav cars), the factory nav is useless.
Everyone keeps ranting and raving about the CompassNav navigation system. I have read almost all the forums in here. Check it out... it may not work for you because I believe it works off the car's radio but Charles, the owner is very quick to respond to questions. There's a specific Compass Nav forum. I am ordering one later this week.
